Who will be doomed

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “No one will be questioned (in detail) on the Day of Resurrection but he will be doomed.”

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]

Commentary:

In Sahih Al-Bukhari & Muslim, the complete narration from A’aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) is that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “No one will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection but he will be doomed.” I said, ‘O’ Messenger of Allah, does not Allah say (interpretation of the meaning):

Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, He surely will receive an easy reckoning. [al-Inshiqaq 84: 7-9]?’

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, ‘That is only the presentation of the account, but no one will have his account questioned (in detail) on the Day of Resurrection but he will be doomed.’”

The meaning of having his account questioned in detail is that he will be examined thoroughly.

The meaning of the phrase (in the above Hadith): “That is only the presentation of the account”: the account mentioned in the ayaah (84:7) is when the deeds of the believer are shown to him, so that he will recognize how Allah blessed him by concealing those sins in this world, and by forgiving him for them in the Hereafter.

What is meant by the presentation is the presentation of the believers’ sins to them, so they may appreciate the extent of Allah’s blessing upon them when He forgives them for their sins.

And Allah knows best!
