The reward for martyrdom

Jabir (radi Allahu anhu) reported: A man said to the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) during the battle of Uhud: “Tell me where I shall be if I am killed”. When he (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) replied that he would be in Jannah, the man threw away some dates which he had in his hand and fought until he was killed.

[Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Commentary:

This Hadith mentions the passion of the Companions of the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) for Jihad and its reward which is Jannah. It also says that if a person heartily desires martyrdom, Allah certainly grants him this distinction and honour.

And Allah Knows Best!
