The Prophet was the most generous
Ibn Abbaas (radi Allahu anhu) said, “The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was the most generous person in doing good (deeds), and he was more generous than ever during Ramadan when he would meet with Jibreel”
The Sunnah of the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was to do a lot of different kinds of worship during Ramadan. The angel Jibreel used to review the Qur’an with him at night, and when Jibreel met with him, He (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was more generous in charity than the blowing wind. He (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was the most generous of people, and He (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was at his most generous in Ramadan. At this time He (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) used to give more in charity and treat people even more kindly; He (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) would recite more Qur’an, pray more, recite more dhikr, and spend time in I’tikaaf (retreat for worship in the masjid).
Therefore it is prescribed for the Muslim is to give a great deal of sadaqah (charity) throughout the month of Ramadan because giving sadaqah (charity) during the month of Ramadan is better than giving charity at other times.
The scholars stated that righteous deeds are better when done at times of virtue, and undoubtedly the month of Ramadan especially the last ten nights of Ramadan are better than any other nights, because Laylat al-Qadr is among them, which is better than a thousand months. The Muslim should make the most of this opportunity and give sadaqah(charity) seeking Allah’s pleasure and reward.
And Allah knows best!
