The eminence of Surat Al-Ikhlas

Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (radi Allahu anhu) reported: A man heard another reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas repeatedly. The next morning he came to the Messenger of Allah  (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) and informed him about it as if he considered it to be of little reward. On that the Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, this Surah is equal to one-third of the Qur’an.”

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]

“Yataqalluha”  translated above as  (to be of little reward) means he thought that its recitation had no special merits. The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) clarified his misunderstanding by stating the eminence of this great Surah.

And Allah knows best!
