Swearing at the Companions

The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Allah has cursed the ones who swear at my companions.”

[Related by Imam At-Tabaraanee and it is a Hasan (sound) Hadith]

Commentary:

From the known curses of Allah is the one who curses the Sahaba (radi Allahu anhum) – companions of the Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam).

The rejecters of the leadership of Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu) and Umar (radi Allahu anhu) continue to curse and verbally assault the companions of the Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam), namely Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu), Umar (radi Allahu anhu) and Uthman (radi Allahu anhu).

The Messenger (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) says, “Do not swear at my companions, do not swear at my companions for by the one who’s hand my soul is in, if any one of you was to spend an amount similar to the Mountain of Uhud in gold they wouldn’t achieve anything of what they did or even half.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

So may the curse of Allah be upon those who curse the Sahaba (companions)!

And Allah knows best!
